Looking Up Poem by Holly Jamestone

Looking Up

If your life becomes uncertain
As a bridge washed out downstream
Gaze into the waters
Where the mountains join their seam

Look away from murky clouds
Or troubled, grumpy skies
Know that there's a time for pain,
For honor, and for cries

See the dirt as golden brown
Or chocolate-covered life
The ground beneath, the sky above
A way to melt the strife

Feel the goodness all around
And though the muck remains
Shake it off and let your ears
Hear joyful, sweet refrains

And when your mood begins to change
With challenges subsiding
Remember still to treasure hope
And all that helps in guiding
Your heart, your mind, your common sense
Your always half-full cup
And know you're on the other side
As things are
