Looks Can Poem by Francis Duggan

Looks Can

Looks can deceive it is always this way
Beauty is only skin deep as the wise one does say
Many glamorous movie stars only flatter to deceive
All around perfection any human being cannot achieve
Even the best of people are flawed in some way
We are born with flaws and as flawed we does stay
Until the reaper of lives on our existence calls time
For the poet a last poem for the rhymer a last rhyme
Too much love of self to narcissism gives rise
Of their own mortality their sort does not realize
But ageing and death is beyond human control
And time on the most arrogant too does take it's toll
That looks can deceive it is not a lie
But people grow old and beauty does die.
