Losing Memories Of Friends I Never Had - Poem by Manny Negron

-i’m losing patience-
-My tears are vengeful-
-Remind me again why i shouldn’t remember-
-everything that took place-
-Should i have looked the other way-
-when you thought no one was watching? -

-i wish i’d never known of all those times-
-you did me wrong-
-A faithful heart is what-
-i asked for all along-

-My memory’s waning-
-just like our relationship has-
-Remind me again-
-what you thought friendship was-

-Don’t mention it-
-and i’ll pretend you never happened-
-These long-lasting scars run perpendicular to my lips-
-but they are hardly noticeable to the untrained eye-

-Can i file away this memory? -
~It was never meant to exist…~
