Losing Themselves In The Vapors Mist... Poem by Minnie Gehrig

Losing Themselves In The Vapors Mist...

Rating: 5.0

the heat rises of the sidewalk
n waves of illusion,
my feet melt into the concrete,
a bead of sweat runs from the corner of my eyelids,
a frown spreads its way
shadow like across my smile,

i will toss n turn against the summer air,
no sleep finds me here,
only thoughts of rebellion,
wanting to be away from you,

feeling your fingers reaching out,
missing me like the rays of a setting sun,
my love bleeds into it,

thoughts of you,
are not easily silenced,
n the still n energetic nights,
against the loneliness
of an empty bed,
my arm where yours used to lay,

i want so much to be parted from the memories of this,
your smile, lips parted,
the way you kiss...
silence in the mornings,
coffee n cigarettes,
fade away
like a dream departed,
losing themselves,
in the vapors mist...
