Loss Of A Soldier Poem by Mike Smith

Loss Of A Soldier

Rating: 5.0

From misconception to depression
Hate and all that is lost
War is not the answer
We must end them at any cost

Young kids die before their time
Widows are often made
Mothers and fathers left with broken hearts
Memories will start to fade

What about the life cut short?
Over issues too complicated to explain
Religion, money, power are a few
Too many It’s just a game

Protect our land is what they say
Casualties are a part of war
As if human life is insignificant
Because there is a cause we are fighting for

We must not forget about the soldier’s we lost
Through all the years and wars we have made
Remember them, honor them, and love them
Make sure their memories never fade

I like this poem and I've just read the Race poem for which Pam gave you some very sound advice. You write very well but you don't seem to have submitted anything for a long time. I'm a bit confused as I see your name quite often, especially when I'm reading Wes Vogler's oogie series. Am I mixing you up up with someone else? Perhaps you could let me know. Anyway this poem deserves a ten. Tom Billsborough

Hello Tom. Thank you for the kind words. I have started a blog and that is where I write and post my poems now. I love the advice that Pam and others have given me and I try to incorporate it in my writings. BTW I think there are probably a few Mike Smith's so it is more than likely someone else
