Lost Generation Poem by K Marie

Lost Generation

Rating: 5.0

You paid for us.
You put a roof over our heads,
You put food on the table,
But that was all you did.
You failed to teach us,
To nurture us,
To guide us.
You failed to love us,
To protect us,
To show us our strengths,
And carry us through our weaknesses.
You failed to hold us when
Our pain crippled us,
But…
You succeeded in making us strong.
In showing us that we are truly alone.
You succeeded in making us rely only
On ourselves,
Because no one was going to love us
Enough to stand by us.
You succeeded in making us question
The importance of our very existence,
In making us feel like a burden,
a chore or a curse you were forced to deal with.
You…the previous generation,
Should have failed where you succeeded
And succeeded where you failed.
Maybe then, Generation X
Wouldn't be the ‘lost' generation.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It's an unfortunate truth for so many. Being a parent is more than monetary support. We must do better.

Impressively and so sadly true, A magnificent 'mea culpa' for so many parents that let this horror happen! .

3. Maybe, their care and the bonds would have left us weak to face the harsh reality of life. But the values of hard work and perseverance saw us sail through.

Ours was a close dear family. Our parents took good care of us, often sacrificing their own comforts. They succeeded in inculcating values in us and a close bond among the siblings

The stark neglect of children by their parents, their failure to love and hold them close, leaving them to feel that they'are truly alone' is a crime. At least before the children and God, if there is one.

The message is clear and correct! This 'lost generation ' shows the deep neglect of parents that did not or were not interested enough in bringiong up their own children, One thing is for sure, we pay heavyly and mioserabky ly for our misakes
