Lost Innocence Poem by Amanda May Moore

Lost Innocence

There comes a time when the crime is not knowing the truth
She loses her tooth with belief that it wasn't mommy who put the change where her tooth once had been... but with the years she loses her youth.

It becomes a strain to stop the train of harassment from other kids that know Santa Clause does not exist. The children will only persist.
These lies grow on the list; will she ever get her Christmas wish?

With the years it becomes greatly missed. And so the phone rings
As I am deep in thought of these matters, she turns to me and
Says, 'oh don't answer that, it is another bill collector.'

A girl, nine years of age should not have said this.
These thoughts in a kid should not exist!
And how can this be? My little sis...
