Lost Love Poem by Adhitiyaa Elango

Lost Love

That night you left me
And went far, far away…
Hoped you'd come, to work this through
And that we could find some way …

I would stay awake every night
Just to watch the moon cross the sky…
Hoping she would come down one night
Just like the night she left me standing by…

I kept waiting, waiting and waiting;
Every night on the roof tops…
Hoping you'd be doing the same;
Until I was covered up, next morning, with dew drops…

Like the waves, washing away the shore…
Like the winds, blowing away the dune;
Time did what it does best,
To make us forget and to prune…

It was hard in the beginning;
I did what I had to…
Uprooting every memory from within,
Let it be, I let it go…

I moved on and finally got you
Out of my heart and brain…
I was filled with happiness and joy;
There was cake and sunshine once again.
