Lost Love Poem by Amudipe Opeyemi Marcus

Lost Love

Like Wordsworth daffodils I wandered lonely as a
cloud
That floats on high over vales and hills
When at once it came rushing in from within
Breaking all bounds to let itself loose
Alas it is free, free to be called its own
And like a bird it is free to seek its nest
Soulmate I thought I had found in thee
A bound I sought to create with thee
Together we had ran down the hills of happiness
Fingerlocked we had gazed at the stars
Hoping to find signs among the celestials
The proof that we are meant for each other
Your burden I had carried in my little heart
Too great was it, but sacrifice it`s
In return fullfilment you had given me
Hope! , I thought I had for the future
Not until it came crashing down
It pieces piercing down deep my fragile heart
Its warnings I had ignored
Thinking it was necessary for our seed to grow
But alas I was wrong, heading for doomsday
Like a leaf in the harmattan i shiver to my emaciated
bones
The walls around me broken, solace i sought
Late it was, the handwriting was clear for me to read
To your tent oh israel
AMOR I wonder why souls doth celebrate thee
Why mouths never cease to praise thee
Tears I believe you bring, not joy
Many I believe may sing otherwise
Enough have I seen to believe
Objective it may look
It is for the men to discern
Not for the babies
Sing not its songs into my ears
Its tales I must not hear of
Alas that which I despised, I was born through
In and with love, Papa and Mama urshered me into
the mortal world
And yet I fight the very core of my existence
With this I believe it doth exist
Maybe its not for me.....argh...argh
Perhaps mine is yet to come
A thousand years I will wait, even if it takes eternity
Waiting for the right one...argh argh the poet wept
