Lottery Poem by Michelle Tiddy

Lottery

Rating: 5.0

Life is a veritable lottery
Which numbers will you choose?
Which roads scream silently
Will you always lose?

Or are the losses really gains?
Intended to make us truly feel.
Wittling a deeper soul
Creating a person that's 'real'

I think I will always seek
The silver lining in those clouds
Even when they are dark
I'll shake off the lonely shroud

For me, you see, I can only
Soak up life's valuable lessons
Whether I learn or not is irrelevant
I will collect important weapons

That will metaphorically assist
In the battles of life to come
The uphill struggles ahead
For, I have already won....

I live, I breathe and enjoy
The tiny miracles in this world
Just slowly watching and believing
In the magic that unfurls

And grabs us every day
By the heart and the head
We need to remember what's true
And not simply what's 'said'

The truth is always in us
We only answer to ourselves
If we are honest to our spirit
There should be nothing else
