Love And The Candle Poem by Joseph Blitch

Love And The Candle

In homage; loving people often light a candle;
Heartache in this way they oftentimes handle;
Often from a different candle; they will light:
The candle flickers but always remains bright;

They come natural or obtained in many a hue;
They are found in many shapes and sizes too;
Some are odorless; some burn fragrant also;
No matter their makeup; always same glow;

Drafts may make them flicker as they burn;
Some people while bathing; for them yearn;
Warmth and comfort people should receive;
When anxiety and tension they try to relieve;

With consolation we ought to always know;
That they dispel darkness as onward we go;
A gleam in the distance can be seen at night;
As the burning flame emits a twinkling light;

In the lighted candle we can see God's love;
To Earth He sent His Love Light from above;
As to each spirits final rest; we must all care;
As the wick; His Love Light we should share!

Tag: Love is like a candle given that it takes another's flame to get it to burn. Once lit it grows to full light and may flicker with each wind yet it diminishes not when passing on the flame to another.
