Love At Your Convenience Poem by Biff McGuire

Love At Your Convenience

Rating: 5.0

Sampling the stock on a whim
Searching for all of the answers within
Taking advantage time and again
Love at your convenience

Make sure he fits all the templates
Showing the side of you, you know he hates
Testing his tolerance; patience to wait
Love at your convenience

Throwing coats over puddles for you
Attentive and thoughtful when you’re feeling blue
Finally crosses your mind (he might do)
Love at your convenience

Putting a ring on your hand
Looks like you caught the right man
Grants all your wishes and follows commands
Love at your convenience

Cross words are thrown through the night
Headaches? Uninterested? No time is right
Engaging again in the same stubborn fight
Love at your convenience?

Forty hour weeks for three long decades
All the time lives with decisions you’ve made
Not in his best interest, the things that you said
Love at your convenience

Thinking there’s got to be more
Reluctant to come home and pass through the door
Now you're alone at home walking the floor
Love’s not real convenient

It doesn’t take much and he’s gone
A few angry words from your mouth and he’s done
Listening to sense? he’s out looking for fun
And love that is convenient

If you want things to work then you must reconsider
The timing and touch of the words you deliver
Or passion and caring are swept down the river
Of loves real inconvenience
