Love Crime (2) (Violence Caused Vegetative State) Poem by U Win Kyi

She is a brain-injured patient,
so gaunt with sunken eyes, cheek bone prominent.
Fate had stricken her relentless.
For many years, she has been lying flat,
in the nursing home air-inflated bed.
Her eyes filled with sorrow so sad.
Bed-sores are raw in her back.
Through naso-gastric tube, she is being fed.
Her limbs are thin with muscle in contracture.
Her urine is drained out by a Foleys catheter.
Her bowel movement is assisted by enema.

Her eyes always looking at the photos,
of her daughter and herself in duo.
pasted at the ceiling,
so that she can see from the morning,
until late night almost without blinking.
Her beautiful photos are hung on the wall,
making her eyes gleam more and more.
She was once as beautiful as a famous model.
Now she is like a dry flower petal.

It was said,
her husband was so violent,
Against the wall he bumped her head.
So severe her brain profusely bled.
She was saved from the jaw of death.
The tragedy started as a petty quarrel,
which turned into a great anger.
The final outcome so severe,
nothing could compare.

Now she is like a vegetable,
her husband in jail as prisoner.
