Love Inside Lagoon Poem by Suman Pal

Love Inside Lagoon

'And could I not with her find a country where death is forgotten--where death is unknown! ' - (The Lagoon, Joseph Conrad)

Love that makes us weak
And keeps us blind
Creates a fear of Lagoon
Of loss, alienation and cries.

Where love in a dimlit of bower
Creates garlands of dilemma
Against duty and plight.
Where love thinks of
Future and Past
And makes the Present
A fragile state of sobbing crust.

Where love for Diamelen
Is not a sin
And love of Arsat
A blunder to lean.
Where love in all way only love
And brothers are the latest hope
To hold up the cradle for love.

Love that makes us weak
And keeps us blind
Creates a fear of Lagoon
Of torment, remorse and agonies.

But love that makes us sublime
Builds us of greatest might
And love that deepens in hearts
Bears a million pearls in every sight.

Love that holds everyone
In equal light
Makes a happy realm of bliss bright,
Love that holds everyone
Out of selfish appetite
Makes a paradise of ecstasy
Outside the frontiers of Lagoon inside.
