Love Is A Simple Song Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Love Is A Simple Song

It's the universal language.
Spoken in some rhyme and verse.
Teaching us to love in rhythm
To keep away all hate or curse.

A whole note or halves or quarters.
The clef keeps our tune in line.
The cadence is the perfect timing
For our friends both yours and mine.

You may live at the earth's bottom.
I may live up near the top.
It matters not whether east or west,
In song peace simply will not stop

All instruments will rust or crumble.
But voices singing rise up high,
And are carried by the wind of changes
In the hearts of men who simply try.

Love is but a simple song,
A language the whole world needs.
Let's cultivate and grow love now.
And with song we can plant it's seeds.
