Love Is What You're Wishing For Poem by Mark Heathcote

Love Is What You're Wishing For

Love is what you're wishing for.
Hope is your wishing well domain.
That someone,
Someday, they'll love you too.

But each day, a peacock screeches.
And it doesn't care for you.
It's only smitten with its fiery feathers.
And how it looks, you know in the mirror.

'Love—love is what you're wishing for.
Hope is your domain.
That someone,
Someday, they'll love you too.'

Even if you are an overweight watermelon
Even if you are thin and frail,
Even if you are loud and obnoxious,
Even if you are afraid to trust

Love is what you're wishing for.
Hope is your wishing well domain.
That someone,
Someday, they'll love you too.

And something, someone strong divine
They will laugh and smile.
To their happy end because, out of nowhere
The fates have brought you and them together at long last.
