after long walks on village lanes
after being in moonlit nights many market days
he showed her how to make a love-knot
her vows put his eyes on the rainbow
and at the back of her soul
she knew her screams were buried in a wall
last night their heads fell into deep sleep
like the two halves of a lopped melon
and love was hard to stop
in their entwined sleep
they exchanged arms and legs
in their dreams their hearts took each other hostage
in the morning they wore each other's face with smiles
