Love Lined Soul Poem by moon batchelder

Love Lined Soul

Rating: 5.0

love -not fear- had creased those lips;
joy -not bitterness!
eyes, in laughter danced, -as if
on wrinkled silken lace.

child-like wonder filled her gaze,
and ancient simpleness;
yet lines of wisdom -cheeks to chin,
the path of tears did trace.

peace of mind was evident.
grace at every turn.
voice as soft as lullabies
spoke measured words and true.

wool, -pure white- adorned her head,
that many years had earned.
hands, cool satin, holding mine
sufficed to tame my mood.

a wizened soul at least was hid
behind this frail facade
of beauty, ravaged -or enhanced-
by time. and yet beyond

this wrapping-paper body dwelt
eternity and god!
and strength, -tho trapped her flesh within-
for love, to carry on.
