Love, Loneliness And Temptation Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Love, Loneliness And Temptation

Now, it has been a whole week
Seven very long days of being away
From your love and affection
The seconds drag like a 'too too' train
The minutes tarry like a boat
The hours pull like a broken car
The days seem eternal
All add up to my loneliness
And I have met temptation
The two know me very well now
Loneliness calls me by my first name in the early morning
Temptation waves at me on the street in the afternoon
Both of them sing sweet sonorous songs to me from the early evening
They do not leave till late in the night, when I fall asleep
Few days to the end of my sojourn
I have begged them to leave me alone
But they have vehemently refused
So I decided to chase loneliness and temptation by writing this poem
After reading this, they will know that I am already in love
So they will leave me alone
