Love Objects Poem by gershon hepner

Love Objects

Rating: 5.0

Do objects have the right to many lovers?
The law books tell us mortal men should stick
to one inamorata between covers;
to women they give but a single pick
among select inamorati whom
they might choose. Lovely objects seem to call
in silence to admirers in the room
where they’re displayed, demanding that they fall
in love with them. The passion of the owner
gives him no sole proprietary right;
the object does not want to be a loner,
but to be coveted by all in sight.
Yes, objects have the right to many lovers,
and people ought to learn from them and share
delight and beauty everyone discovers,
not hide them behind windows, like software.
