Love That Promises Such Paradise At First Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Love That Promises Such Paradise At First

Love that promises such paradise at first
No worries, all plain, the better to lure
Her hapless victim to an early grave
Or other things and disappointments full.
The early ditties of Love's day
Early the day begin a sour scent
That with each succeeding second more sour grows.
And then before sunset and dusk
Into a cesspit of failures stinking throws
That before night comes Love stretches you
Without mind, without strength, without everything.
