Love Thee How? Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Love Thee How?

Rating: 0.5

How do I love thee my beloved my own?
Enough so that I would give up my own home!
To follow you closely and walk at your side.
So love can then flourish and love be our guide.

How do I love thee my princess, my sweet?
I’d bow down before you or lay prone at your feet.
I’d do all your bidding, and fight all your wars.
I’d live my days for you, and at night give much more.

How do I love thee on Valentine’s Day?
It is the day of my birth, so let me here say,
“It’s the day I proposed and the day you said yes,
Of all days in the year it has to be best! ”

How do I love thee, must you really ask?
I live for your loving and I’m up to the task.
I’ll walk in your shadow and hold your soft hands.
Let me kiss your sweet lips, let me die as your man!
