Machines Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Machines

Machines

When younger
Less guilty, much wiser
I read books in numbers
Among them words, advice
Of learned philosophers
Like Russell…

He was my favorite.

Somewhere he talked of the
Factories, with machines
In mass and in excess…

"What when need is fulfilled? "
Needles were examples
"So many are tailors
If each needs…"

And went on:
"Either the factory must stop
Or something must happen to the shops
Or somehow customers must be found…"

At the end I can say:
"Customers are made by
Mass of waste…"

And this is what I see,
I hear and observe.

Mass of waste…

The machines must be sold
The buyers must pay debts
Labourer must work on
But the need is not there
Dig the land and build the
Banners and monitors
