Magazine-Pretty Poem by Patrick Coates

Magazine-Pretty

Now did you mean to strike a spark,
that struck this fire inside my heart?
Was it the smile, long lashes, or nouveau roque lipstick? You got that sassy style
Magazine-Pretty, some tell me I'm as shallow as a river that's seen no rain
Maybe its true,
But if I settled, tell me cover girl, who else will be holding you?

I didnt advertise, how you catwalked in mind, took me by surprise
Just a wink and a glance with inky eye-lined brown eyes,I could read between the lines.
Had on your high octane makeup, with a pot of golden curly hair,
High guilotine cheekbones, bee-stung lips, painted fire engine red

There you are standing pretty eyes watching me, one hand on them baby blue jeans.
So radiant and ravishing, looking like a dream, on the cover of a magazine

A picture crisp as apples, your a beauty far beyond description,
I started flipping through your pages
When you blew me a kiss, so I got your lifetimesubscription

Didnt wear acrylic jewels in all theirmany hues, floated above a cloud of sweet perfume
You wore precious stones, owned rainbows of clothes, and loved shopping in your high heel shoes.

There you are staring pretty eyes watching me, one hand on your baby blue jeans
So radiant and ravishing, looking like a queen, with your silks, faux-furs and gabardines

I had my very first car before you dressed your first doll baby girl
If I didn't love you at all you wouldn't drive me up the wall with spendingsprees and trips around the world

My mama told me something and nothing was never was as plain as day
A glamourous dame will give less pleasure than a breaking heart can bring you pain

Magazine-Pretty whats keeping us together?
Your such a paper-thin lover, soggy in stormy weather
First issue, left first breeze that blewNow Im chasing every wind searching everywhere for you

There you are swearing pretty eyes on me, got one hand on them baby blue jeans
So radiant and ravishing, looking like a dream, on the cover of a magazine
