Our Love Is Like The Spice Trade Poem by Patrick Coates

Our Love Is Like The Spice Trade

Long ago, so many days,
Men sailed across the oceans waves.

They grabbed the lands our mothers gave.
Chained our fathers made them slave.

Told us, we once lived in caves.
The tears they cried, were like rain.

Those were the wages spice paid.
But that's what led to you and me.

Our love is like the Spice Trade...

Without that trade we are not made.

We lost a world, let's turn the page.

This one can last eternally.

Our love is like the Spice Trade...

And sugar,
we are the children that it made.

Lost that world, let's turn that page.

This love will last eternally.

An insightful piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely brought forth in good diction with conviction. Thanks for sharing Patrick.
