Magic Kingdom Fun Day Poem by Deanna Samuels

Magic Kingdom Fun Day

Rating: 5.0

A big day out at Disney's Orlando Magic Kingdom.
The day was cool and windy, though did not deter,
enthusiasm high and with great excitement
took an easy Uber ride to transport to the Park.
Joined the already hundreds of other visitors,
parents with kids, teenagers, to the oldest seniors
through security and ticket booths to await Monorail.
A swift ride and good overview of surrounding lakes
and the many hotels and car parks around them
brought Monorail to entrance of Magic Kingdom.
Tickets on iPhone checked, all in order, phew!
Walked through the arches of City Hall guest services
and there it was, Main Street of The Magic Kingdom.
All cares and worries of any of the current times,
all left behind, even the chill in the air forgotten!
One was transposed to another world - of fantasy.
Along Main Street, there were shops galore,
Disney novelties and clothing - and bubble blowers,
restaurants and cafes to suit all taste buds and
confections and bakeries - don't count the calories!
Town Square Theater to meet Mickey Mouse and
walking up Main Street, eyes would be directed to
rest on the commanding presence of Cinderella Castle.
There, at each hour, on the Forecourt Stage,
Mickey and Minnie and other beloved characters
would perform a great show of song and dance,
a treat for all the many hundreds of visitors looking on.
From the Castle, walking towards Adventureland,
one smiled at the squeals of delight of those flying on
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, rising gently up and down.
Participated in the enchanted delights of the Tiki Room
of colorful birds and flowers singing Hawaiian songs
and thoroughly enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean,
a boating ride of booming cannon and getting splashed.
The Jungle Cruise, too long a wait, gave it a miss.
Hopped on the Walt Disney Railroad train to Frontierland
which puffs its way all around the Magic Kingdom,
giving an oversight of attractions, lakes and grounds.
When gone once around, alighted at Fantasyland -
taking one into another world - of fantasy- meeting
movie characters, Ariel, Belle, Mirabel, Winnie the Pooh,
and a stunning carrousel, roller coaster, Mad Tea Party,
Peter Pan and Dumbo, though not all had time to see.
Mickey's PhilharMagic 3D movie a great winner
and a most enchanting easy going water boat tour of
‘it's a small world', utterly charming and mesmerizing.
In between, a lunch at Pinocchio's Village Haus,
a tasty repast of cheese pizza and American lime pie.
With all that had been seen and done and getting tired,
made way, past Cinderella Castle to Main Street gardens
foregoing the newer exhibit discoveries of Tomorrowland.
Stayed a while, enjoying scene and the colorful street band.
By now, weather had warmed and was delightful just to sit.
Suddenly, the clock tower struck four and there was the
Mickey and Minnie and friends on Castle Forecourt stage.
Enjoyed the show once more and then, sad to have to go.
A slow amble returning down Main Street, not rushing,
but the magical day was quickly coming to an end and
leaving from this magical Magic Kingdom felt so sad -
but with the Monorail looming, must now return to reality.

I, too, visited Disney World a few years back with my grandkids and remember that exact feeling. You captured it perfectly. Thanks for stirring up some great memories
