Mahashasti Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Mahashasti

Shasti,
Mahashasti,
The day of her coming
From the heavenly abode to the earthly one
Under a clear autumnal sky
With the landscape dotted by
Fluffy and fluttering white kash blooms
And the seuli tiny specks of flowers
Scattering around
Dew-soaked,
Ccchatim trees with the bunches of clustered
Blossoms hanging by
And the roll of the dhakis
Drumming,
Welcoming her and her celestial family
And the priests chanting mantras,
With dhupa and dipa
As for the akalbodhana puja of the Goddess,
The untimely awakening worship ceremony
Of Ma Katyayani
To save us from adversities.
