Make Believe Poem by Samantha Boatwood

Make Believe

Rating: 5.0

In the land of make believe, where all
Our dreams come true and everything
Is different and everything is new

Today I think I'll be a magician with
A hat, I'll wave a magic wand
And pull out a crazy cat

No, I've changed my mind, I want to
Be a camel in the desert, standing
Under a leafy palm tree
No wait! it's way to hot out here,

I think I want to be, digging
In the sand, I know what's perfect
For me! a meerkat, thats what I want
To be, on second thought I must confess
I have changed my mind again
I don't like to be under ground
Or, have sand in my underpants

Will I ever get this right
In the land of make believe
I will try once more, so let me think
This time I want to be.....

A kookaburra, who sits in the old gum tree,
No but wait! ! I've made a fatal mistake
Because u know, how that story goes
That poor old bird ends up, jumping up and
down with his pants on fire,
Not the way I wan't to go! !

So, at this point in time, I have decided
The one I want to be, is just me.

a beautiful write.... superficially its a funny poem....but it has a deeper far more life size magic i really loved the end where you suggest being ones self is the best thing if only we could learn this simple message....we would be a happier lot high on poetic merit....fluid and done very well cheers sat
