Making A Plan At 21 Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Making A Plan At 21

Rating: 5.0

The shutter of time had pictured her twenty one times
She wasn't going to recycle the naivete now that a rosy picture of her emerged.
The imprint of that year's photoshoot would live forever.
She was all polished up with a coat of lacquer-like make up, her heart undulating with anticipation of her first kiss.

He was tall, dark and handsome with bear like hands, and she was waiting to melt in his love. He adorned a tee shirt which accentuated his biceps and she wished he would hold her till dawn. But she had to forsake the idea because her dad was there at the parade, lavishing her with gifts. She just managed to write 'I love you' on plaster and hoped the message would filter to him, the handsome boy.

Her seduction endeavour paid off after a few shots of tequila. She lured him outside, though she had to fabricate a story about having hurtled down the steps and needing to stem the blood flow. Love made her lie without a quiver.
