Man & His Future Poem by George Bernard Hough

Man & His Future

From beginning of time on this earth of ours
Our sun has created the rainstorms and showers
By heating the seas precipitation began
A cycle of water was natures broad plan
Flooding the land as it fell from the sky
Nowhere on earth would ever be dry
Making our planet a bright blue sphere
But during formation fissures appear
These became routes for the rainfall to take
Areas collapsing would create a huge lake
Natures intention to flood out the land
Was brought to a halt with rivers so grand
Which carried the rainfall back into the sea
Leaving the land for fauna and tree
Creatures too were able to flourish
Food from the land gave them the nourish
Over the years since all this was created
Silt in the rivers made existence dated
An obvious process could give man the edge
If he wisely these rivers did dredge
In natures due time our rivers will flood
Bursting their banks as she knew they would
And as nature intended when all this comes true
A planet so peaceful and a beautiful blue
