Man In A Bottle Poem by Sven Rhoads

Man In A Bottle

Trapped within the cage that I've built myself
My mind is being pulled in every direction
Built up the walls that have kept everyone out
As I sit here alone with my friend called misery
I've placed my heart so high on the shelf
As poison did flow from my every injection
Riddled my body with anxiety and doubt
Black is the future that has come before me

So tired of being pulled far out to sea
Lost in a world where I dont seem to fit
Just a man in a bottle is what I will be
Until the tides turn I cant fold up and quit

Prisoner inside of my own true skin
These sleepless nights come more and more
Watching the fall of every grain of sand
As everyday just blends into one
To break the cycle and escape from within
Hoping to land on some distant shore
Beaten and ravaged this so called man
Just so I can one day stand in the sun

How long has it been since the morning star rose
Been locked up inside of this moonless night
Why is this the path that I've chose
I cant take this anymore, I must do what is right

I will pop the cork on this life
Breathe again until eyes are open
Taking the first step out of the bottle
I'm ready to receive this blessed token
