Man In Despair Poem by Shehu Abubakar Niasse

Man In Despair

Rating: 5.0

Who shall pay the due debt unpaid?
Who shall say the truth yet unsaid?
And these kids I still upbraid
Who shall them, when they tantrums throw, scold?
Who shall tell them the folktales untold?
Who shall blanket them when it is cold?
Who shall pillar them when bad events unfold?
.
And this woman who spouses me,
Who shall to her say 'courageous be'?
When her eyes misty are, through whose shall she see?
.
And this motherly widow,
Who sits and cries by her window,
Who shall in her love like mine sow?
Who shall wipe her tears and straighten twice a brow?
When I cannot walk me
When I am in the earth a fathom laid below,
Who shall me be?
