Maria - Poem by Denis McGuire

So, never have I found a friend
That in my darkest days
Could send the sad away from me
To show the sunshine-rays

Now, never have I know a truth
So true as it could be
That all my life I've waited for
A friend like sweet Marie

I never thought we needed us,
Until the night that she
Poured out her heart in sobbing there,
The night that she found me
