Mashhad Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Mashhad

Mashhad

If someone comes to me with question:
-'Which of these is your best,
-Reagan, Bush or Trump? '
-I will be too frank and reply:
-'All are beads to single rosary,
-party is Republic,
-admire KKK, are racists,
-narcissist as wolf is, cloaked as ‘Nationalist'
-cheaters who make fire for burning
-the others; yet bury followers! '

The same is with three in Mashhad,
-the oldest is Harun, then Ma'mun,
-and Reza…
-thanks to them I carry mix-blood
-partially of Arab invaders…
-I am told! '

This city in Iran
-bordering the Afghans
-belongs to Ferdowsi and Attar
-and their kind

Must have been very nice
-to attract the caliph of the time,
-known as best, greatest
-very wise
-who is said to have been
-a father to schools
-respected scientists…
-yes…Harun
-I recall having seen his grave
-parallel and next to, now Reza's
-erased now, or bulldozed
-deleted is hidden under lies
-of power, and cruel brainwash
-refurbished, rewritten history
-similar to Orwell in nineteen eighty four
-feel ashamed reading Alam-al-Hoda when he lies
-'Mashhad is sacred and is mentioned in Koran! '
-congrats to Iran to reject Raisi, his bastard son-in-law! ! !
