They light your dreams,
Or burn them out.
They warm your home,
Or destroy it.
They clear a path,
Or block it.
For me;
They light my night,
And when they get blown out I listen to the darkness.
And do you know what I’ve learnt?
I’ve learnt to except the thing I can’t change,
And if I can,
I simply think to myself the better option.
So I cherish my dreams,
Even though they desolve.
I’m thankful for a home,
Even though it’s being demolished.
I’m thankful for my path of life,
Even thought myself or others may choose to end it.
I am thankful for a night,
So I can choose to be in the dark as I please.
And I am thankful for a match,
So I can choose with path to take.
