Mausoleum Poem by Barry Middleton

Mausoleum

it rises like a wall
to block me from the world

I am too weak to reach
into another day

and yet I know I must
and yet I know I will

with illness and with age
and sadness and regret

brick by brick the wall
darkens the mausoleum
