May Herlihy O Connor Poem by Francis Duggan

May Herlihy O Connor

May Herlihy O Connor has breathed her last
The sad news of her passing took me to the past
When she and her late husband Donal raised their big family in Minor Row
On going back the years some three decades ago.

A beautiful person with a beautiful mind
Her equal one can say would be hard to find
The good things in life she did always embrace
In the heart of her family none to take her place.

A generous person as I can recall
In her home in Minor Row there was a welcome for all
'Tis sad to think in Millstreet she is never more to be seen
But good memories of her will remain evergreen.

She was a good woman and she led a good life
May Herlihy O Connor Donal's lovely wife
At peace from the cares of life now she does lay
And if there is a heaven she is there today.
