May I Try The Food On Your Plate Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

Two cats knock at my bedroom door this morning
-Are you both hungry or you just want to play? I ask
It's only four thirty in the morning.
My eyes are still closed, the room is pitch dark.
At first, they just knock gently
The knocks are so smooth, but enough to be heard.
I sit down to write these verses quickly.
When opening the door, I see two cats waiting there
Immediately, they lead my footsteps
One leads and the other follows.
Coming to their feeding place, they sit and wait.
When they hear the popping sound of their food can
These happy cats repeatedly wag their tails
They wait for me to bring their equally shared half.
These cats are not biting or meowing in complaints.
After finishing one half of their halves,
Their eyes are on the other's plate.
Both read each other's desire in their wide-open eyes
"May I try your food to see if it has better taste? "
Recently, these are their new tricks.
Is this the same as in humans,
The food tastes better on someone else's plate?

Hai mèo gõ cửa sáng nay
-Mèo ơi bay đói hay là muốn chơi?
Bây gìờ mới bốn ba mươi
Mắt tôi vẫn nhắm, phòng tôi tối ngòm.
Bắt đầu mèo gõ nhẹ thôi
Chân gõ nhè nhẹ, nhưng tôi nghe rồi.
Tôi ngồi viết vội vần thơ
Khi tôi mở cửa, hai con đang chờ.
Thế rồi chúng vội dẫn đường
Một con đi trước, dẫn đường con kia.
Tới nơi, hai đứa ngồi chầu
Nghe tôi mở hộp, con nào cũng vui.
Mèo ngoan nằm đó vẫy đuôi
Chờ tôi mang đĩa chia đôi phần đều.
Mèo này chẳng cắn, chẳng kêu
Chúng ăn nửa đĩa, mắt nhìn đĩa kia.
Mắt nhìn như nói với nhau
"Cho tao thử món đĩa mày xem sao".
Chuyện này thì mới xẩy ra
Nhân sao vật vậy, đĩa nào ngon hơn?
