Maybe... Poem by Bryan Taplits

Maybe...

Rating: 1.0

Maybe you believe you're a fool-
Because you didn't see which way the road was turning,
Or maybe you think you‘re no jewel-
Because of your stubborn lack of learning.
Perhaps you believe you have no luck
And your life is like a plunge into a churning abyss,
Or maybe you're searching for someone
And you find her! -
And then find out she's not it.
But, perchance, you cross the street
And get safely to the other side,
Or maybe your car swerves just a bit
And somehow you avoid a fatal collide.
Yes, maybe you really are blessed-
A perspective you've never considered,
And thus,
you're not drowning at all-
But just another swimmer
in life's hard-charging river.
For if you never try your best
You'll think your life's maybe only to survive.
But if you do try your best,
You'll likely go to your final rest,
Maybe not wealthy, certainly not healthy-
But wise.
