Memorial To Memories (But Remember...) Poem by Bryan Taplits

Memorial To Memories (But Remember...)

A totem-
and a wisp of smoke,
Redolence that's re-sent.
Recalling a tale of what was once-
And remembering it again.
A tocsin and a tonic,
A luminescent flight,
Retreating to a well-worn curb
To see this second-sight.
A smile and a foray-
A patina that dusts your plow-
All passed days re-visited
And what has passed is now.
This dawdling in the past is fine
But with lingering one might get stuck,
Remember you still are getting old
Falling in this muck and mire-
could easily break your back.
