Mayoka Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Mayoka

The red wine is my medicine and,
Your red sea is my love;
But the wings of the ostrich waved proudly and,
I am here to humble you with my love.
Aha! There lies your beauty so sweet;
For i have spoken once about this love,
And your inward parts do need me too.
Who set the wild donkey free? !
For your home is in the middle of the wilderness;
But you are under the seal of my love.
Where is the dwelling place of the seat of your love?
For the surface of the deep is frozen;
And i am like the hippopotamus beside the still waters.
Your muse is like the eyelids of the morning love,
And with the make-ups of the visions of the night;
But i am Mayoka under the lotus trees of love,
For you are like the cedar tree chosen to me on this love.
