Me Poem by Shelly-Ann Legg

Me

Let me tell you of a story
Of a girl who didn't know how to stop
She jumped every hurdle, no this wasn't dory
And from the bottom she rose to the very top

She slept in the cold covered in dew
The sun knew her by name
But so did the silver moon too
For years she was drowned in sorrow and shame

She knew no happiness or love
Fear creeped in her bones, that of sitting still
But she understood that something greater was above
If you never try to move forward, you never will

She sat down to look at all she'd seen
And found emptiness in the person she'd never fully been
Let me tell you of a story of s girl who tried to be the best she could be
She was gracious, beautiful, fierce and kind, that girl was ME
