Me A Laboratory Speaking Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

Me A Laboratory Speaking

'Never think- I am confined within four dead walls-
I build rockets that connect two planets,
I make vaccines that eradicate diseases all over...
Though I am bound, my reach is huge-
ranging from sub-atomic particles to the ever expanding universe
because I am the eyewitness of disclosure
of hidden truths within my four walls.
I am the manifestation of nature and beyond.
Some tell, ‘Whole campus is my lab',
they shall remember my superiority.
I observe- the life struggle of students-
their success as well as failure,
guidance of bosses, their indifference too,
politics and conspiracy and disrespect and ruin,
the emergence of truth at last...
I smell chemicals all day,
I remain ever freeze with air conditioners,
I fail to sleep often because of bitter frustration,
I look at the fire alarm at times,
I feel breathing trouble inside the machine-stuffed room...
But I am not a robot-
a robot thinks as it is programmed,
remember, I myself set the program.'
