Me And That Other Old Guy - Poem by Stanley Cooper

“Records are meant to be broken”, they say
Some more easily than others
Record setters who have their way
Unbroken is their druthers

The only record I hope to breach
Is Methuselah’s nine hundred years
Nine hundred one I should easily reach
Since I’m now aged and almost his peer

    but more important
than a thousand years of life
    the sense of humor
    alive and kicking
    out fine poems
