Me And You Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

Me And You

That early evening
When you slept, I woke up
And left.

The filament of breath that tied me to you
Had snapped,
I no longer belonged to you
Or any one.

I am born of light and wisdom,
the beloved of my father
Sent to experience temptation and suffering,
And impermanence.

But I am beyond all harm,
Neither fire
Nor sword nor water am I afraid of, I am immortal.

As a tenant loving the place I lived in,
I looked back once
And saw you straight, stiff and peaceful.

I was never you, you were never me,
I learn to love you.
I am the child of he who made me
Happy, unattached.

I loved you
But I yearn leave
not of hatred, unknown to me
But for love and wisdom.

Notmany understand or know me.
Those few who with ceaseless effort and meditation
seek me, see myimmortal glory
And earn immortality.

For aeons we are bonded together,
Me ever the same
And you, different every time
And yet you know me not.
Many a wrong way you took despite my wisdom.

I part in love to the land of light
And godliness.
