Me, On The Rocks Poem by Sean Furlong

Me, On The Rocks

Rating: 4.0

Then I fell
Through the ice
Into the water
A soft spot I didn't see

Needles against my face
Paralyzing effects all over
My body heavy and restrained
Muscles wrought with pain

It came so suddenly
I had thought all was fine
My vision was never perfect
And this time I was blind

Slowly I sink
With a view of ice above me
Lowly I think
About the dark abyss below me

Just then the pain leaves me
Still holding inside
The breath I have left
Now carbon dioxide

My life doesn’t flash before me
Only a picture of a person
A person I’d hope to see
I'd hope to see again.
