Meanwhile A Turtle Mocks The Monkey Poem by RIC BASTASA

Meanwhile A Turtle Mocks The Monkey

confused
you think there is no
connection

a boy watches a butterfly
without a mirror

a picture of you and me
in glass breaks that evening
falling from its
place

iraq was deceived and a bomb
explodes in a night market
somewhere in davao

on a still pond you find
meaning
until a pebble is thrown
and the ripples
runs towards your
reflection

it is obvious
it is the disturbance which
created its meaning

it is your anger
why things do not fit in your mind

why are they not
following what you have thought
of now and in the future

meanwhile a turtle mocks
the monkey when it is finally
set on the water
thinking that it could be the
end of its
oppressor
