I hope that we both meet once again
This time without hate or sin
As if we had never before met
And in my mind there is no pain or memory or regret.
I have cried to myself every single night
Unto your ultimate pleasure and delight
For me you never did once worry or care
I was the one always in err.
Whatever you needed I always did
Whatever I needed may God forbid,
I helped you with your sadness and worries and fears
You just gave me tears.
You had robbed, lied, cheated, and did me wrong
And you have spread gossip and rumors all day long
In bars you have bragged that you are known
Where your disbelief have been sown.
Now that I am truly done and over you
Like the phoenix in the ashes I arise true,
God has given me love and joy and purpose and peace
Which will not ever cease.
I hope that we both meet again with a smile
And not with your hate or guile
I have forgiven what you had done to me
But, I have not forgot the lies and pain and misery.
I have heard times before that a good woman is hard to find
Especially one truthful and honest and caring and kind,
And now as I sit back and with that story I ponder
Never again about that truth will I wonder.
Maybe, before either one of us die
Maybe once more we can look at each other eye to eye,
I hope to see you once more even on the street
Because, I truly don't think in heaven you I will ever meet.
