Meeting Up With James Sunderland Poem by Justin Gildow

Meeting Up With James Sunderland

In the forest
On the outskirts of this so called deserted town
I'm trying to find directions and answers to where I should go next
It doesn't help that where I am
There's constant fog all around

I hear footsteps walking down the path
I turn around and see a man

He greets me at hello
And I return a greeting back at him
We both introduce ourselves
And we ask each other what we're both doing here
But that leads to more questions than answers
But we both know what we're looking for

He tells me of his life the past few years
And from what James tells me of his life
The past few years have literally killed him inside
And that ever since his wife died
There's been days where all he does is cry
I can tell that guilt, at one point or another, has torn him up inside
Along with telling me, the countless tears

He's looking for redemption
But also pride as well
So he can lift his head up again

After the passing of many minutes
James decides he must go and find out if the truth is real or not
We shake hands and give each other a pat on the back
Wishing us both the best
And that we find what we're both looking for
