Melting Poem by RACHEL ZARANTONELLO

Melting

I watch the candle slowly burn -melting from the flame
Fire moves and rises, leaving the candle never again the same.
my heart is like this candle with so much to learn.
You were the fire that lit it- only to watch it burn.
You were the flame that made me melt
You made me feel like I'd never felt.
My candle burns as I miss you more
Always waiting for you to come in my door.
You melted my heart- a fire I didn't want to put out.
You saved me from myself- when my mind was full of doubt.
I met you when your heart was gone and your mind so very lost.
I believed that I could save you,
not knowing my heart would be the cost.
Inside I am broken. I struggle just to be okay.
Perhaps you'll cross my path again.
Maybe this will be my day.
